Whats the difference between a griddle and a grill?

The difference is obvious.

The griddle has a smooth, flat surface. If the grill is a solid plate or one with an opening in the middle, the grill will have distinct raised ridges that allow food to cook directly in the warmth underneath.

Most grills have grates, while griddles are flat plates with no ridges.

The heat source for a griddle or grill can be gas, charcoal, or electricity.

The griddle transfers heat from the entire metal surface to the food, which can even cause the cooking and browning process. The heat supply or flame is never too high to overheat food.

A grill, on the other hand, uses a higher temperature than a griddle. Heat is transferred from the fireplace directly through the metal of the grill.

The metal absorbs and intensifies the temperature at the point of contact, browning or burning. These are the grill marks we love for our hot dogs and steaks.

 

 

Which is easier to clean, a griddle or a grill?

A flat griddle is easier to scrub than a grill because it doesn't have all the grates. You can use a cooking tool like a spatula or spatula to remove grease or sticky food.

The grill has an extra area with hidden nooks and openings to keep burning grease. You'll need a stiff brush and hot water to scrub most grills.

For griddles, hot water and a flat spatula will sometimes do the trick.
