Teppanyaki Flat-Top Griddles | Steps In Cleaning Using Only Vinegar

Teppanyaki flat-top griddles and pans are incredible commercial kitchen equipment.

Whether you are a talented Teppanyaki chef, entertaining guests with your cooking skills, or just making old dishes for family and friends, the real star of the show is the teppanyaki flat top grill.

The best thing about this kitchen workhorse is that you don't have to do many things to clean and maintain it.

Having the right tools and proper care will ensure that it has a long life, and you don't have to spend thousands of dollars on a new one so quickly.

Seasoning (coating a protective layer on cast iron, aluminum or chrome steel) a griddle once is smart to do and will make cleaning easy; however, if you want to prevent the teppanyaki iron griddle from rusting, then you need a second Seasoning.

The role of the seasoning coating is to prevent food residues and accumulated fat from adhering to the grill surface, and to help you easily clean the grill surface afterwards.

There are several ways to clean and season your teppanyaki griddle, but in this article, we will focus on vinegar as a rust inhibitor and cooking oil as a seasoning metal.

Some chefs do this every day, while others only do it when needed.

Here are the steps to clean the teppanyaki flat top grill:

Step 1
Pour 50% of the mixture into a spray bucket, and pour the other half into a small bucket.

Step 2
Spray the surface of the grill and cooking grill with a mixture of water and vinegar. If you use a gas stove to heat your teppanyaki griddle, then you may need to remove the grate and spray out the water and vinegar mixture from the gas stove to prevent water and debris from entering.

Step 3
Wait 5 minutes for the water and vinegar mixture to penetrate the coal char and food residue, and then scrub the cooking grate with a grill brush to remove it. Now that they have softened, it should be easier to remove them.

Step 4
Soak the teppanya grill grates and burner guard in a large plastic basin filled with hot soapy water.

Step 5
Dip a rag in the bucket and wring dry. Wipe the inside of the grill thoroughly-including the inside of the top of the hood. Change the cloth once a week to keep it clean and not contaminate the grill with dirt.

Step 6
Seasoning: Pour olive oil on a clean cloth and spread it on the grill. These oils act as a protection to prevent burnt food residue and grease sticking to the teppanya grill grates from accumulating. Occasionally seasoning the grill with oil will make cleaning easier, especially if you clean the grill every day.
